I never gave up on my commitment I just got lost for a while, gave in to the lies and all the bullsh!t and let it get me down, but now I'm back up on my feet and by God that's where I'll stay, and I'll blast right through anything that's standing in my way. For all these years I've denied myself forgiveness, but I've finally found my place again and I'll never let it go, and from this day on I'll never take this gift for granted, I realized what I was searching for was right here all along. I'm sure that there were times that I lost my better judgement, I hurt my friends and brothers that's a burden I must bear, I let my drive and passion turn into obsession, too blind to see that I drove our dreams right into the ground. For all these years I've denied myself forgiveness, but I've finally found my place again and I'll never let it go, and from this day on I'll never take this gift for granted, I realized what I was searching for was right here all along.

I finally bit the bullet tried settling down Work a 9-5 stop bumming around Ain't no easy prospect especially for a guy like me I worked real hard learned myself a trade Found out real fast that the honest way Left my wallet a little empty, but that's nothing new to me Nobody said that it was easy Sometimes all you can hope for is just to make it day to day Nobody said that it was easy There ain't no use complaining no one listens anyway I found a good woman and I made her my Wife Tried to walk the line and do what's right Ain't no easy prospect especially for a guy like me I never chased women or messed around But the bottle was something that I couldn't put down Wish that I could get back all the years that I pissed down the drain Nobody said that it was easy Sometimes all you can hope for is just to make it day to day Nobody said that it was easy There ain't no use complaining no one listens anyway I can look you in the eye and honestly say That I gave it a shot and tried things their way All it did was help me realize just what I already knew That it's not the point who's right or wrong It's being honest with yourself about where you belong I'm not putting it down, but there's just no place here For a guy like me Nobody said that it was easy Sometimes all you can hope for is just to make it day to day Nobody said that it was easy There ain't no use complaining no one listens anyway

(verse 1) It's a place I often visit, but I don't wanna stay, Cause dwelling on the memories is just too much to take, Thoughts they race like bullets, and cycle in my head, I'm searching for perspective, but I end up lost instead (verse 2) We all do what we have to, to get by and survive, And we all have our demons and secrets that we hide, we learn to keep them buried, and never let them show, Cause once they spot our weakness they'll never let it go (chorus) And I believe, there's a reason for the struggles that we see, What we endure is not in vain we just learn to carry on to spite the pain (bridge) It's a place I often visit, but I don't wanna stay, Cause dwelling on the memories is just too much to take, Thoughts they race like bullets, and cycle in my head, I'm searching for perspective, but I end up lost instead (chorus) And I believe, there's a reason for the struggles that we see, What we endure is not in vain we just learn to carry on to spite the pain

Going to the tracks to hop a train Leaving here tonight I gotta get out Lost all the reasons I should stay Gonna go down to the tracks and hop a train I'm not looking for no Broadway lights Or where the grass is greener on the other side All I know is that I gotta get away Gonna go down to the tracks and hop a train Wish it didn't have to be this way Guess that I should stop "Chasing Rainbows" And "I'm No Stranger To The Rain" Gonna go down to the tracks and hop a train I'm not looking for no Broadway lights Or where the grass is greener on the other side All I know is that I gotta get away Gonna go down to the tracks and hop a train Going to the tracks to hop a train Leaving here tonight I gotta get out Lost all the reasons I should stay Gonna go down to the tracks and hop a train I'm not looking for no Broadway lights Or where the grass is greener on the other side All I know is that I gotta get away Gonna go down to the tracks and hop a train

They say son step back rethink your occupation, Just grow up and leave this all behind, I just smile and quietly leave the conversation, I could argue but it's just a waste of time Fifteen years from now I'd say that I will still be here, Playing shows for twenty dollars and a pitcher of free beer, But as long as there's one person there who wants to hear my songs, I will sing with all my heart and soul until my voice is gone, I will sing..I will sing..I will sing! I've never set my sights on fame or fortune, I won't change the world and that's alright with me, I'm a simple man with simple aspirations, Sing my songs, be happy, and be free! Fifteen years from now I'd say that I will still be here, Playing shows for twenty dollars and a pitcher of free beer, But as long as there's one person there who wants to hear my songs, I will sing with all my heart and soul until my voice is gone, I will sing..I will sing..I will sing!

Am I the one that's holding the bottle, Or does the bottle have a hold on me, Gotta find the strength to let it go, All the pain and past resentment, Hate and anger's tearing me apart, Gotta find the strength to let it go, Gotta find the strength to let it go I've wasted all these years, Searching for the source of the problem, Finally figured out there's no one to blame but me, The weight of the future good or bad, Is riding on my shoulders, I won't let my sins get the best of me It all started with a casual interest, Now I got a monkey on my back, Gotta find the strength to let it go, How many times do I have to repeat this, How will I know when I've gone too far, Gotta find the strength to let it go I've wasted all these years, Searching for the source of the problem, Finally figured out there's no one to blame but me, The weight of the future good or bad, Is riding on my shoulders, I won't let my sins get the best of me

"Carry On" 03:31
I'm taking back what's mine and I'm not holding back this time I'm sick of losing out, My heart's always been true and I've got nothing to prove to you, You're as worthless as this town, I took the good with the bad gave it everything I had it made me who I am today, It gave me hope it gave me pride it's the reason I'm alive and I'm standing here today, I'm so thankful for the gift that I was given the miles and songs burn brightly in my mind, The music's what I lived for it gave my life a purpose these songs gave me the strength to carry on, I'm taking back what's mine and I'm not holding back this time I'm sick of losing out, My heart's always been true and I've got nothing to prove to you, You're as worthless as this town, I took the good with the bad gave it everything I had it made me who I am today, It gave me hope it gave me pride it's the reason I'm alive and I'm standing here today, I'm so thankful for the gift that I was given the miles and songs burn brightly in my mind, The music's what I lived for it gave my life a purpose these songs gave me the strength to carry on, These songs were the only thing that kept me hanging on

There ain't no reason to even ask why, She was tired of the heartache and tired of the lies, She kept giving me chances I kept making her cry, I let her down just like people had done all her life. And her broken heart just couldn't take anymore, She'd heard all the lies and the promises before, When there is no trust love just can't survive, There ain't no reason to even ask why. There ain't no reason to even ask why, For better or worse God knows she tried, She kept on believing in spite of herself, When deep down she knew it had all gone to hell. And her broken heart just couldn't take anymore, She'd heard all the lies and the promises before, When there is no trust love just can't survive, There ain't no reason to even ask why.

"Birthright" 03:18
When it comes to desperation it's the birthright of this place And no amount of pills or booze could ever kill the taste Of the poverty and hopelessness that got shoved down our throats Though this place doesn't define me it's still all I've ever known As time goes by these hills all start to look like prison walls Complacency and fear become the chains that bind us all If you get out now run as fast as you can close your eyes And don't look back I'm not ashamed of where I'm from But I won't let it hold me back Junkie's tying off his arm and he's using the bible belt People fill the churches here and the pharmacies as well To put food on the table the only choices that you'll find Are working in the coal mines or standing in the welfare line As time goes by these hills all start to look like prison walls Complacency and fear become the chains that bind us all If you get out now run as fast as you can close your eyes And don't look back I'm not ashamed of where I'm from But I won't let it hold me back

We dwell of the fringes we do it with pride, Just a room full of misfits in most people's eyes, But we wouldn't think twice to give you the shirt off our back, Sometimes we get weary this life gets us down, But our brothers will pick us back up off the ground, I've got your back and I know that you've got mine! WHOAH! We're all in this together! WHOAH! Nothing ever could be better! WHOAH! We're all in this together! I've got your back and I know that You've got mine! Though miles separate us and years may go by, Without seeing each other we know anytime, That we get back together it feels like nothing has changed, I try to describe it no words can express the feeling of pride that swells up in my chest When I think of those days and what they mean to me, WHOAH! We're all in this together! WHOAH! Nothing ever could be better! WHOAH! We're all in this together! I've got your back and I know that You've got mine! I've got your back and I know that You've got mine!

about

Sheldon Vance Charleston, West Virginia

I have never really considered myself a "musician" or "singer"...I am just a fan who loved music so much that simply listening wasn't enough involvement for me.

What I do may be acoustic, but it is aggressive and is put forth with every fiber of my heart and being. I just want to play...plain and simple...I honestly and humbly feel that the songs I have are worth sharing.
